Yeah I know about the problem but I honestly can't think of an easy solution (the Vertex shader of the water can't communicate with any c# scripts), but thank you to pointing it out (;
Kobliznik I think I have the solution to your problem.
And then make it so that the circle and thing above will shrink and expand depending on if the player moves forward or backward, and if the player moves the camera up down left right, make it move the opposite way by using camera position or whatever.
You will also have to account for random player position upon start of fish fight so the circle is in the right place and the right size. im believe you can figure it out but if you are having trouble holler. I don't remember if the boat bobs, but if it does, take that into account too.
P.S. if that somehow works, can you credit me in the credits?
I'd say it would be decently hard to do because this possibly has never been done before, so don't be pressured to do it.
Impressive game considering it was made in 2 weeks but other than that it was enjoyable though the fishing mechanic could of been maybe more interactive. Other than that it was pretty good for what it is
I enjoyed the atmosphere of the game but I was unable to finish due to the actual fishing part of the game. It's impressive for being completed in 2 weeks, but the gameplay itself could use some work. The catching meter depletes way too quickly when the fish is outside of the circle and fills up too slowly when it's actually in the circle. This paired up with the erratic and seemingly random movements make the game a bit too difficult for what's supposed to be a short game. Still seriously impressive, though!
this was fun but good lord was the fishing hard, not hating, since from reading the other comments you made this in 2 weeks which is much more than i could pull off
I don’t know if there’s something wrong with my PC settings or if I’m just bad at the game, but the fishing is so hard I couldn’t even finish the game.
The fish don’t react the way I presume they will, and sometimes even move to completely different directions to what you would expect.
It turned a very interesting and eerie experience into a extremely frustrating one.
this game stressed me out so dang bad. BUT it was worth it for the weird and interesting things that occurred. The fishing mechanics was difficult, but it added to the challenge And the relief I felt when I caught a fish-if u can call it that- was worth it. The very last "fish" was truly a shock! Loved the concept and atmosphere. Wish there had been a few more thing's to help tell the story, but over all, good game!!!
ah okaaay i thought you were just hating for no reason, the last fish is really hard but its kinda luck based in some aspects (i saw people play who found it easy) so its not an easy fix sadly :/
thank you for liking the atmosphere tho! we worked hard on that
The fishing mechanism is quite rough, and being the only activity in the game it could use some improvements : the progress while the fish is in the circle should be faster and the loss while outside slower; for several times the circle ended up outside of the field of view, especially when fishing too close to the boat.
As it is now it drags the game, stretching what could be a ten minutes tight experience into a potentially endless frustrating chore
amazing? How? Controls are HARD, after mourning tide went in, it was impossible to catch anything, fish was just flying everywhere and keeping it steady was beyond me. This is a first time I ever seen it being that hard, and I've played a lot of fishing themed games. So far, the best fishing mechanic was in Dredge. Maybe I'm just a whiny casual, lol
Hey Hello there guys, Loved the game concept, would love to see this updated with more features :) You can check my full review at the end of my video.
It looks really cool, unfortunately I was unable to finish bc I don't understand the fishing. I thought moving in the opposite direction of the fish would bring it back into the circle, but it seems to move wildly after moving the pole too far, bouncing back and forth. But if I try to move the pole just a little, I can't bring the fish back in the circle fast enough. I got stuck after catching the tentacle. Maybe a description of how to fish on this page would help, in case I missed something
Literally two days ago, I was thinking about making a horror game, the idea of which was exactly similar to your idea, and today I was checking if there was a game similar to it, and I found your game. I don’t know if I will continue with the idea, but I will try to make it more different but thanks for making the idea real

Jakub Varga Can you make it so the circle does not go under water when getting fish?

its supposed to be hard you have to pull your line in turn to what the fish does

Interesting atmosphere and implied story.

we know but as it was a made as challenge to make a game in only 2 weeks it would be wrong to change it later. thanks for the feedback tho!
Amazing fishing sim! You catch a lot of interesting stuff and controls were amazing, felt like real fishing experience ;)
